The entrance to museums and libraries in 2012 China will free

Chinese citizens will be exempt from paying into public art galleries and libraries in the country before the end of 2012, according to a joint statement issued by the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Finance.

This is another important action taken after China offered to the public free access to museums and memorial halls in 2008.

The statement calls on finance departments at all levels to increase investment to art galleries and libraries so that they operate without charge and improve their service offering cultural rights.

The central government also allocated special funds to subsidize the art galleries and libraries in underdeveloped regions of central and western China.
The statement also urges the art galleries and libraries to introduce enhancements to its management system and organizational structure to optimize efficiency operational services provided to special groups such as children, elderly and migrant workers from rural areas.
