Torment ... Passion

Well, this interview is a bit old ( disappeared) but still Lauren Kate lets us know several things about Torment (mostly the end) and Passion)

PART 1

Today, we are excited to present Part 1 of our two-part interview with Lauren Kate on her new novel Torment. We must warn you that some questions are spoilers, but we have clearly marked so you can choose the answers. Hope you like! (And a HUGE special thanks to both Lauren for answering our questions and Noreen!)

To be an "angel", Daniel does some pretty questionable works. What is your real motivation? Are we going to learn more about their motives in future books? Is it really so cut and dry as "keeping Luce safe?

Well, Daniel is a fallen angel, which means you put something else before God and was expelled from heaven for it. You can not always act as "good", as one might expect that an angel played and there's a reason for that. He has put his love for Luce above all. I would not say that keeping safe Luce is a simple issue, whether it is of utmost importance to his existence and his life is constantly threatened throughout the series. Although she (and reader) can not see, however, he always has your best interest in mind.

In Torment, we finally got to glimpse some of the past lives of Luce. Will we see more of these in the next book?

In the third book we see whole Luce exploring your past lives. We will continue to Luce while tracking more than 5000 years of history. It may be the craziest book I ever write, but I think it will do much to explain the love shared by these two.
The following questions are some spoilers of Torment, so read it only if you agree with that (or if you've read the book):

SPOILER ALERT! At the end of Torment, we feel there is more than you think Luce. Can more information about itself, not only of their past lives, but its role among the angels and demons in the next book?

Of course!

SPOILER ALERT ! At the end of Torment, Callie enters the world of fallen angels. Are you here to stay? Will we see more of their participation in the activities of the next books?

Callie (along with most of the other characters) will play an important role in the books to come, but until PASSION [the next book in the series FALLEN] will I would say to expect a lot of time of Daniel-and-Luce.

SPOILER ALERT! Speaking the end of torment ... Luce's parents! Anything you can tell us about your near future?

One thing that surprised me to write Passion and deeper into the past lives of Luce was how well their parents are in their current life. She will meet many other parents in groups Passion and few of them compared to Harry and Doreen. Luce will meet with parents before and she finally be able to explore with them about what happened.

SPOILER ALERT! Miles. Oh, Miles! It is so good and sweet and charming, and yet ... Is there any reason that you have the feeling that there is more to learn about Miles? Is it really that good?

Yes, it's just great. Are you trying to plant a seed deviated from it in my mind? If he returns as a villain in the fourth book, I know who to blame. Just kidding. For me, Miles is a representation of a life healthy Daniel Luce might have if it were not such a big part of their destiny. It's a good guy. Really!

Broken Veins In Tummy

information ....

Well to make waiting more enjoyable PASSION, today I bring you all the information we have about the book ...

WORDS LAUREN KATE:

  • Passion is like a prequel, Torment begins where it ends and a trip back in time, and the title is no exaggeration. There are a lot of passion in this book
  • is that readers have stuck with the final screams of Torment, but I promise it will be worth when published
  • Passion
  • I am very happy to say that Daniel is my character Passion favorite. Caused me problems in the first two books, Passion now love him.
  • will soon (very soon) out of the cover of Passion is impressive as the other two.
  • Passion is narrated alternately, some chapters by Daniel Luce and others.
  • I have no idea when it will be the publication of Passion for Spain, but they will have on the manuscript in a month or two. So it is possible to be published this summer, will keep you posted on my page if anything. Literally
  • I finished the review of Passion, which means that now will go to my agent, then my editor for a second review, then come back to me to make changes, then a spell check and verify that everything and finally to the printer. The text will be ready around March, and then the book will be printed in June.
  • wanted to call it "Chaos" instead of "Passion" but my publisher did not think it was romantic, so we became very romantic and when I finish the book I decided to call it Passion. Jajja. It seems like a title widely used and not original but I really like. It's the most romantic book of the series.

This is a public article that Lauren Kate a while ago on Passion (translated here) ...

While you've been waiting patiently Torment ... I've been working hard in the first draft Passion. It is the third book of the Fallen series and a prequel to everything that happens in Fallen and Torment. In its conception, this book felt like an impossible dream for me: It covers a period of 5,000 years, plunges into a new arena, a new country, and usually a new century with each new chapter. And their goal is to explain almost every important moment that never goes between Luce and Daniel. Without doubt the biggest challenge narrative I have given myself. I was nervous before I started writing. He had a great fun experience, nice to write Torment, but I knew that this book would be much more complicated, much more demanding. Like I did when Fallen started writing, I turned to books for help. Only this time, besides the theological research books that I used to Fallen, I had to look at some of my favorite novels to help with the period and the environment. Do you recognize any of these?

All a writer reads, loves, and is based on the time, strained his way on his own work, but it is not often that a writer once said that books have truly become a part of history. I turned to the North and South Elizabeth Gaskell, The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov, and A Farewell to Arms Hemingway. I read books about horse racing, books about the Globe Theatre in London, books on the Maya ballgame at Chichen Itza. If this sounds crazy and disjointed, believe me, there were times when I felt exactly the same way. But the good thing about this book, I think, is that the history of Luce and Daniel remains clear and strong over time, place and history. It is a survivor. Still I have a long way to go to this book. The first project is a skeleton in comparison with everything that has developed in the second and third. But the book is shaped and a spine now, thanks in large part to all these texts I had fun. My team and I are going to take a break. Just for a while. This weekend, I'm running a half marathon in memory of my grandfather. I'm running with a group called Team in Training to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. (For those of you who participated in my auction, helped raise over $ 2300) After that, I head to Berlin for a week Gala to my editor. And then the moment we've all been waiting, "Torment get the 9 / 28! And I start to travel in the U.S. and the UK. Those of you who live near a city I'm visiting, I hope go and say hello!
And finally ...

disappointed when I saw many people knew that Passion would be a prequel ... basically by the fact that being in the middle of the series, the prequel would lose the thread of history but after the end of TORMENT and confirmation of Lauren Kate, we know that continuous PASSION TORMENT, without ceasing to be prequel, as I recall, at the end of TORMENT Luce plunged into a shadow to see their past lives, then Passion is told in the journey of Luce and Daniel dare time, another Lauren Kate detail revealed was that Luce would not only past lives also live again ...
